Introduction
It is the policy of the Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa (CHOO/COPO) to control the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in accordance with requirements set out in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
About PIPEDA and how it applies to Ottawagraphy.ca:
As of January 1, 2004, PIPEDA applies to every organization that collects, uses or discloses personal information in the course of commercial activities. Section 2 of the Act defines "commercial activity" as:
"...any particular transaction, act or conduct or any regular course of conduct that is of a commercial character, including the selling, bartering or leasing of donor, membership or other fundraising lists. "
Though the requirements set out by PIPEDA do not apply directly to the activities of CHOO/COPO and the Ottawagraphy.ca website, CHOO/COPO is committed to respecting the personal privacy of individuals who visit the Ottawagraphy.ca website and we feel it is important that you understand the manner in which we gather and use the information we collect.
Collection of information
CHOO/COPO does not collect information that personally identifies individuals except when individuals provide such specific information on a voluntary basis. In all such cases, CHOO/COPO will collect only information that is voluntarily provided by the user and undertakes that such information will be kept strictly confidential. Individual information provided to CHOO/COPO to gain access to the Ottawagraphy website will not be sold or made available to a third party.
CHOO/COPO collects the names and email addresses of registered users.
